A song, traditionally sung in Scotland, to welcome the new year, but do you know what it means?

Originally a poem, written in 1788, by Robert Burns, the phrase 'For auld lang syne' roughly translates as 'For old long since'.

However, it's intended meaning is for old times' sake, in reference to preserving friendships and reflecting on the year just past.

The imagery used is a hand cheersing a traditional beer tankard.
